The crimson king crab is indigenous on the north Pacific ocean. This species may also be located in the Bering Sea and was released for the Barents Sea in the 1960s. Preferring cold waters, it has been observed in waters starting from roughly 29-55 °F. When youthful, the red king crab has a tendency to inhabit shallow waters of below 65 toes deep.
